My Topsy-turvy Upside-down Tomato Planter

I'm trying out the topsy-turvy upside-down tomato planter. So far so good. My dh wouldn't let me hang anything from the bottom of our second story deck for fear of "splitting the wood" so he came up with this idea--a chain hanging from around the tree limb. I hope it gets enough sunlight. It's been a week and it hasn't died yet.

Hi. How did it go. I was checking out the topsy turvy planter, and I just can't figure how a plant that naturally grows up, would grow down. So I am very curious about this item.
My friend got a similar but more pricey device, and planted last season in it. However when I ask about result, nothin much is said. I assume it was a failure for her, and I should stop asking her about it. I know she didn't invite me over for stuffed tomatoes.
Let me know. bluelightnin(at)sbcglobal(dot)net

I didn't like it very well. It was heavy and awkward to plant and hang--The tomatoes did grow alright but I felt like I was torturing my tomatoes! I know that sounds weird but that's how I felt. It drank a lot of water, too, and became really heavy with all that water so your stand must be very sturdy. I didn't use it this year because I misplaced the lid!
